The Ministry has been in existence for over 40 years, beginning work in 1971 with the founder Michel Vital and his wife Marie Vital. He moved from Cap-Haitian to Port Au Prince to continue his ministry work. His lifelong dream was to build a Community Center in Gressier, with a school, church, orphanage and clinic. To begin making this dream possible Pastor Vital bought land there in 1975.
The first school was established a year later for primary age children. Two years later, in 1978, a church was built on the same property, fulfilling part of pastor Vital’s dream. By opening a Vocational School, building a church, and a primary school his lifelong dream was well on its way to being completed, but because of health issues by the late 90’s his work had slowed down. His son, Giovani Vital, felt a calling from God to continue the work that his father began. He didn’t want to let over 25 years of work be for naught, so he took over the mission. Even adding a secondary portion to the schools several years later.
Pastor Vital was involved in a lot of activities and organizations in Haiti and abroad. He was the representative of OMS in Port au Prince, an active member of the Council Of Evangelical Churches, and president of Communion of Emmaus Churches.
By the time of pastor Vital’s death in the year 2000, he had pastored four churches, and oversaw two schools. Upon his death, to honor his name and work, the Foundation was started. Today there are 5 churches and 2 primary and 2 secondary schools apart of the mission. The work is ongoing with the goal to bring all of Pastor Vital’s lifelong dream and mission to fruition, which was helping the Haitian community as much as possible and to make the last two legs of his ministry a reality, a orphanage and a clinic. That’s where we begin our work today.
